Our story

Same certificate. Different care.

Why Feaniks exists, in the words of our founder.

I'm the main carer for my mum, who lives with severe dementia.

Every carer the agency sends has passed the same dementia course. Yet some understand her, and her dementia, far better than others. Some sit with her, read her mood and know when to slow down. Others follow the task list and leave. And it isn't experience: I've seen a carer with five years outshine one with twenty.

So how can two people hold the same certificate and give such different care? And why can't any system show it?

I grew up in care.

My parents owned a residential care group, so from the age of eleven the sector wasn't something I'd chosen. It was just home. At 21 I became a registered manager and owner myself. Over the twenty-five years since, I've sat in most of the seats this sector has: owner, manager, operator and executive.

Running a service showed me how much depends on the people on shift, and how little of their real quality ever reaches a report. That drew me to technology, and into health and social care software, most recently as Chief Revenue Officer at Radar Healthcare, helping providers see their risks more clearly through smarter reporting and earlier warning signs.

I believed visibility was the answer. It isn't. Not on its own.

Most leaders already know where their risks are. The gap is whether their workforce has the knowledge, confidence and competence to act on what the data shows, and whether anyone can prove it.

Then it became personal.

When my mum developed dementia and I became her carer, I saw that gap from the other side. The care I'd want for the people I love became the brief for everything that followed.

That's why I founded Feaniks. Training that doesn't just prove someone completed a course, but shows they can do the job, with the skill and empathy it really takes. Manager Sign-offs. Practical assessment. Everyday Moments that become Evidence. Proof that holds up when inspectors ask.

Feaniks HQ brings those threads together: a system that shows the true quality of each person, not just what they've completed. Built first for health and care, because this is where it matters most.
